BTU Deutschland Expands Cooperation with the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies
28/03/2025
BTU Deutschland has officially launched a strategic partnership with the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) as part of the research project "Elements of Technology for Sustainable Cultivation of Organic Soybeans Without the Use of Synthetic Fertilizers and Pesticides" (LBTU-PG-2024/1-0008, 5.2.1.1.i.0/2/24/I/CFLA/002).
From March 16 to March 29, 2025, Dr. Yurii Syromiatnykov, representing LBTU, visited the headquarters of BTU-CENTER Europe GmbH (Germany). During this visit, he held meetings with Anastasiia Yakovleva (project lead at BTU), and other team members from the R&D and production departments.
Key Areas of Cooperation
Microbial Products for Organic Farming:
The partnership focused on evaluating the effectiveness of BTU biological products, specifically:
RIZOLINE – a bio-inoculant for enhancing nitrogen-fixing efficiency in soybeans
Biological Nitrogen Fixation and Plant Stress Resistance:
The research aimed to assess the impact of microbial products on soybean productivity, the formation of the symbiotic apparatus, and plant adaptation to stress conditions.
Adapting Technologies for Latvia’s Climatic Conditions:
As part of the cooperation, the team analyzed the potential application of BTU products for organic farming in Latvia and adapted seed inoculation and foliar treatment technologies to local soil and climate conditions.
Scientific Outcomes and Future Prospects:
The joint research findings will be the basis for scientific publications in high-impact international journals (WoS, Scopus) and will contribute to further international grant initiatives.
Future Collaboration Perspectives
This partnership represents a significant step toward developing organic agriculture in Europe and creating effective biological solutions to enhance crop productivity without relying on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides.
BTU Deutschland and LBTU are combining their scientific expertise to develop innovative solutions that promote sustainable agricultural development and enhance global food security.
